If you’ve always wanted to go on an Africa photo safari, it’s time to check it off! Join professional wildlife photographer instructor Kathleen Reeder for an incredible exclusive 2-night/2-day photo workshop with on-property glamping at Out of Africa Wildlife Park in Camp Verde, Arizona. Experience what it’s like to hear lions roaring and hyena’s whooping while you sleep. Wake up to the sounds of Africa’s Serengeti. Exclusive staff access to photograph the park’s animals at sunrise and sunset. You won’t want to miss this!


  • 2 nights Friday and Saturday double occupancy glamping at Out of Africa Wildlife Park Safari Village. This is ideal for couples, two friends or two family members sharing a tent.
  • Safari begins with check-in at 3 PM Friday. Get settled in and then join Kathleen for a sunset photo session, after the Park closes to the public from 5 PM – 7 PM. Friday evening we’ll focus on photographing carnivores in habitats photographed best in late day light, including lions, tigers and wolves.
  • Saturday morning photo session begins at 5:45 AM. (The Park doesn’t open to the public until 9:30 AM) We’ll photograph carnivores in habitats photographed best in early morning light, along with reptiles. Saturday photo sessions continue thru Tiger Splash (approx. 2 PM). Lunch provided.
  • Sunday morning photo session begins again at 5:45 AM. We’ll spend our time photographing the hoof stock in the Serengeti and Masai Mara, including giraffe, antelope, zebra and more. Safari ends at 9 am on Sunday after the sunrise photo session.
  • Exclusive staff access to photograph carnivores at their habitat fences
  • Hands-on assistance in photographing wildlife in a variety of settings, including outdoor habitats, open ranges and enclosed habitats with artificial lighting.
  • A dedicated trolley and personal driver and guide to provide transportation from the tent village to the park and throughout the Park, narratives of the habitats, and security to protect your equipment.
  • Treats to encourage the animals to pose and perform natural behaviors in their habitats that make best use of the light of the day.
  • Unobstructed views to photograph the famed Tiger Splash™ show through fence cut-outs not available to the public.
  • A designated place to charge batteries overnight

While many of the animal residents are native to Africa, the wildlife park is home to hundreds of individual mammals, birds, and reptiles native to many continents and countries around the world, such as Africa, Asia, North and South America, and others.  Representing the rich diversity of the animal planet; predators, herbivores, and omnivores at Out of Africa not only display the rhythms of Africa but beautifully manifest the colors of the animal world.

Animal species include African Lion, Barbary Lion, Mountain Lion, Tundra Gray Wolf, Spotted Hyena, Bengal Tiger, Indochinese Tiger, Grizzly Bear, Serval, Black Bear, Iguana, Lizard, Python, Cobra, Gila Monster, Leopard, Ibex Herd, Reticulated Giraffe, Wildebeest, Watusi Cattle, Asian Water Buffalo, Eland, Nilgai, Addax, Dromedary Camel, Gemsbok, Ostrich, Barbary Sheep, Zebra, Sable Antelope, White Rhino, Emu, Patagonia Capybara, Ring-tailed Lemur, Prairie Dog, Burro, Javelinas, Sloth, Coatimundi, Porcupine, Tortoise, Cavy, Anaconda, Chuckwalla, Bearded Dragon, Boa and Spectacled Caiman.

  • Breakfast and Dinners – Bring your own food for breakfasts. Choose to barbeque at the Safari Village on Friday/Saturday night or grab a bite in downtown Cottonwood

Physical Requirements:

Participants should be in good health, able to step onto and off of a bus frequently, and able to step over a fence with assistance. You will also need to be able to carry your camera bag a short distance a couple of times. If eye level photographs of predators are desired, you will need to be able kneel and get back up to a standing position without the need to grab the habitat fence.

Participants will be required to sign Kathleen Reeder’s Liability Waiver.
